iPod CPR

Yesterday my iPod died.  There was no response when I pushed the buttons, nothing when I plugged it into the charger.  The screen was dark and I was left wondering what I would listen to during my drive home?  Panic was starting to set in, but luckily I found salvation on Google.

I searched for “iPod reset” and found the directions I needed to revive an iPod on the Apple website.  The directions vary based on your model, but here they are:

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

If that doesn’t work try this

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

The second set of directions brought up the familiar Apple logo and all my music was still there.  Phew!  As much as I would love to get an iPod Touch it is kinda hard to justify after my recent purchase of a new alternator and belt for my 12 year old Subaru.  If I hadn’t just paid for the car today I might not have tried so hard to bring my iPod back from the dead.  🙂
