Chickens have been laying EGGS and other things.
Right after I had Jillian the chickens started to lay eggs. I’ve lost count but we’ve gotten over 20 so far. The 2 Wyandottes started first because we just got brown eggs for the first 2 weeks but slowly the Ameraucanas are following suit and we have some green eggs too (although the picture doesn’t show the colors well 4 of those are really light green). In other chicken news, they are not enjoying the cold that much I don’t think because they keep trying to come in the... [Read more...]

A Birth Announcement that sticks!
Ever get a magnetic photo card in the mail? Thanks to the Parent Bloggers Network and Magnet Street we got these ADORABLE magnetic birth announcements so that all our family and friends can be greeted by Jillian when they get a snack from the fridge! Of course they’d be great to stick up at work too so I’m sending John with one this morning for the cabinet above his desk. This is one coolest ideas I’ve seen to announce a new baby and I’m hoping it catches on. I wish I knew... [Read more...]

How to build a backyard ZamboniNow that you’ve built your backyard ice rink you need the most important tool to get the best ice…a Zamboni! Actually, the smallest Zamboni you can buy is a tow behind unit for your tractor. For small backyard rinks the solution to getting smooth ice is much simpler and cheaper. There are numerous hand held ice resurfacers you can buy on the internet. After looking over the options and prices I decided I could build one myself and went to Lowes looking for parts. The entire project... [Read more...]

I love that we’ve made the switch to stainless bottles for our family! After my recent review of the Earthlust bottles I am excited to have found another great option that I hadn’t heard of before. BILT makes bottles for both adults and kids and they might be just what you’ve been looking for! BILT’s Vite kids water bottle comes in colors or stainless (with a colored top) and retails for $11.50-$14 CAD. I was very happy to test these bottles out and Bilt generously offered... Some posts from Halloweens past!
I love October and Halloween has definitely become my favorite holiday. Being so pregnant this year with baby #4 arriving exactly one week before Halloween, I am not going quite as crazy with Halloween unfortunately (no party). I figured we’d start early decorating though just so I didn’t “forget” or get too pregnant. Ethan and I got out a bunch of decorations the last week of September and for days he kept asking to put up more (I guess we got out about 1/2 to 2/3 of what... [Read more...]
