Garage Sales
Well I grew up NEVER going to garage sales and it wasn’t something I thought of until I had kids. I think a friend must have tipped me off to how great they are for getting very cheap kid’s stuff. Most of my mom friends love them. I am excited garage sale season has begun but with 3 kids I haven’t actually made it to one yet. By going to garage sales over the last few years we’ve found a great boy’s bike, a Little Tikes kitchen, loads of plastic animals (whales, sharks, dinos and more), ride on toys, toy vehicles and I’ve created a huge Rescue Hero collection for my boys . My best find was a 3 foot tall 3-D wooden dinosaur skeleton puzzle that was only $3 (it came in its original box so I looked it up and it was almost $100 new).
I don’t think I’ve gotten anything at sales that wasn’t kid oriented since I don’t need any nicknacks or gadgets to clutter up the house. I also don’t usually buy kids clothes unless they are displayed so you don’t have to dig through them and look perfect (I did find a great Disney Store Pooh costume once). So this year I plan to look for skateboards for the boys and girly stuff now that I have a little girl! I am generally picky about what I buy since I don’t want a million toys in the house but its always neat to find something you know your kids will love that is either too expensive to justify buying new or just something I’ve never seen before. This weekend will be our first garage sale morning and I hope to find something fun for the kids.
