Weekend Project
When we take the boys to the local parks one of their favorite things to play on is tires. You don’t see these as much at the newer playgrounds, but the older ones all seem to have a few partially buried tires for kids to play on. Heather got the idea to put a request on the local freecycle for tractor tires and we found a guy who came through huge for us. We ended up giving him $30 to deliver 3 huge tires to our house. Two of them are tractor tires and one is from a dump truck or some other large construction vehicle. All are over 4 feet in diameter. On Saturday we went to work and dug 2 trenches in the yard and buried the two tractor tires standing up and left the other tire on its side in the middle. Not only do the kids love having something else to climb over, but we invented a new game. We kick a ball for the dog and score points for hitting a tire (1pt), going between tires (2 pts), or through a tire (3 pts). If the dog runs through the tire in pursuit you get an extra point.
