Extend the life of glow sticks

Parent Hacks has a great tip that suggests using glow sticks or glow bracelets as a night light for your kids when you travel.  We look for the glow bracelets at the dollar store and will stock up for the summer.  They’re great to give them kids when you are out somewhere after dark.  The kids love them and it makes them easier to spot!

To extend the life of the glow sticks, put them in the freezer.  This will usually give you another night of glow although we’ve found some colors fade faster than others.

this is good but you need to put why the freezer makes it last longer

The cold slows the chemical reaction. The glow happens when the chemicals are released after cracking the inner tube. Heat will make the chemicals move together faster and glow more, cold slows them down so the glow is dimmer, but last longer. Take it out of the freezer the next day and run it under hot water to get it going again.
