Here’s a quick trick for your TiVo that we couldn’t live without. EVERY TiVo brand DVR has the ability to turn on a 30 second skip feature. Here’s how:

1. Start playing a recorded show
2. While it’s playing press: Select – Play – Select – 3 – 0 – Select

That’s it! Now try pressing your skip to beginning/end button. It should now skip ahead 30 seconds. Next time you hit a commercial break just hit the skip button a few times. Go to far? Hit the 8 second back button.

Once you’ve done it a few times it just becomes a reflex to bypass all the commercials without seeing any of them. Also great for flying through shows that rely on lots of fluff to fill their time slot (American Idol finale anyone?).
