Review of the SENSEO Coffee Maker & $20 off COUPONS!

11

I was VERY excited to be offered a free Senseo machine to review. I have only become a coffee drinker in the last year, but I’m really getting into it. Since I am the only one who drinks coffee in the house this machine is perfect for me. I’ve had fun trying it out and I LOVE the foamy froth on top of my coffee! Senseo

Here are the things that I like about Senseo:

  1. The froth as I already mentioned (its a big plus for me).
  2. It is very easy to use and clean!
  3. I like the Paris French Vanilla flavor (medium roast was fine, but I prefer flavors).
  4. I get coffee fast and can make one cup at a time which is all I need.
  5. When my mom was over I easily made one cup after the other.
  6. The coffee comes out of the spout in a way that you can place two cups under at the same time if you’d like.
  7. It is attractive on my counter (I have black, but it also comes in blue, red & white).
  8. It feels more fun to make coffee with the Senseo (maybe because its new and I got it free, but its just fun!).
  9. I can toss the used pods into my compost pile without any mess.

Here are things to consider:

  1. I really have grown to like flavored coffees and have fun trying new blends, I wish Senseo had a bigger variety of flavors and more decaffeinated choices. Here is a link to the different flavors offered on the Senseo site. Here is what amazon has. I haven’t used them with the Senseo yet, but I was thinking that buying some flavored creamers might be a good thing to compensate for the limited choices.
  2. Its not a problem for me, but I just imagined that the machine would be smaller than my regular coffee maker and instead it takes up slightly more counter space.

Here are my personal Senseo tips:

  1. I like my coffee pretty hot so I put a little milk in my mug and pop it in the microwave while the Senseo is heating the water. Then when I’m ready to brew my mug is hot and doesn’t suck the heat away from my coffee. This step doesn’t add any time to the process and the coffee comes out perfect.
  2. The single cup option isn’t enough coffee for me, but I still put in only 1 pod and press the double button, the coffee tastes great to me this way even though you are supposed to put in 2pods. Maybe I just prefer weaker coffee, but this works very well for me and its still nice and frothy.
  3. I haven’t tried any, but I have found some products (not made by Senseo itself, but they claim to work with your Senseo machine) that let you make your own coffee pods or are refillable pod replacements. This would allow you to use any type of coffee you like and may save some $. I am not sure if I’ll bother with any of these though since the pods are so easy and for the amount of coffee I drink they don’t seem that expensive to me.

Senseo has given me some coupons for $20 off a Senseo coffee machine and I will send those to the first 4 people (or 5 if my sister in law doesn’t want one) who comment on this post below. They have also given me a link to an offer where you can get a Senseo for free with $15 shipping IF you are selected after a short survey (my mom took the survey and it took a week to hear back, it says good until 12/31/07 or until supplies last).

***Update (2/2/08) I still have coupons BUT I just got an email from Senseo that they are doing their $15 promotion again here is the link again.

I would LOVE a coupon if you still have one!! I put this on my wish list this year…thanks for the review of it. Makes me want it even more!!

    Thanks again!!

  2. Suzanne says:

If you still have any coupons, I’ll take one, too!

Thanks for the review. This was on my Christmas list for last year. I would love a coupon if you still have any left. Thanks

WalMart sells a reusable pod for use in the Senseo – sells for about $12. Saves beaucoup bucks.

I had received a free Senseo too. Cool machine.

(I don’t need any coupons, but thanks anyway.)

I bought the refillable pod by Presto. Not what I had anticipated. No frothy layer. The Customer Service lady was rather snippy when I asked how I could get the froth with their product. You can’t. It’s just plain coffee. Anyone try the new Coffeeduck? It’s supposed to give the froth. I would appreciate a coupon for a machine for my office if you still have any. Thanks.

  6. John says:

Yes we still have some coupons, we ended up getting a bunch of extra ones.

I, too, love the Senseo. We have one where I work. My daughter and I both had Senseo on our Christmas wish lists, but other things were more pressing, so no Senseo yet. I do the 2 cups from one, also,Heather. Works fine for me, too. If I’m not too late to ask, could I get a coupon for the discount? There is a $10 rebate now as well at Walmart and Amazon.. Makes it affordable for us working girls. My daughter will disown me when she finds out I got a coupon and didn’t tell her!

My granddaughter and I just finished the shaving cream paint project. She can’t wait to see how it dries. I wish I could get that excited about something so simple! I enjoy this homey website. Don’t know how you manage it all with another baby on the way. I originally spotted you when I was looking for Senseo offers. Do you have any more of the coupons? I have wanted one for some time, and now my One:One is acting up. I think it’s time to replace.

  9. Allison Read says:

I am most likely way late to get in on your generous offer, but if you have any coupons left, I would love one. We recently moved in with my sister-in-law and since we all like different kinds of coffee, the Senseo would be ideal. Thanks.

  10. DebbieCollins says:

My son just talked me into getting a senseo delux. He had gotten his for free somewhere a while back and I was just searching the web to see if any offers like that are still floating around. If by any chance you stilll have those $20.00 coupons and if they are still good I would love to have one. Thanks for your very positive review of the senseo machine.
