Heather’s Favorite New Things
I have received fun new gifts and also bought myself a few things this holiday season, here are some that are really making me HAPPY:
- Mammoth Crocs, they are lined and are warm and can handle walking in a little bit of winter muck yet they have the slip on ease of sandals! I REALLY love them!
- Silicone cupcake cups with little FEET, I can’t wait to make some of my critter cupcakes in these!
- Lots of Senseo coffee pods, I have been making a lot of Hazelnut and Vanilla and I’m really enjoying my machine (I still have a bunch of $20 coupons if anyone is interested). I am up to 3-4 cups a day though so I may be starting to get too into the coffee thing!
- Pyrex containers with plastic lids were a really needed gift from Santa so I can microwave food without worry and now I can purge some old plastic ones.
- A homemade yogurt maker, it makes 7 little glass jars at a time and so far I’ve made 2 batches (by the second time I got the hang of it). I am working on getting the kids to eat it now but I really like it and I figure when they realize I’m not buying the store bought kind they will too!
- I also got a new book light and some great new cookbooks, a sci-fi boxed set and a book on Chickens (This spring will bring LOTS of CHICKEN posts because I am planning on getting 4-6 chicks for eggs/pets).

We are enjoying our new yogurt maker too-Thank you! I made one batch yesterday, I used the boil the milk method and it thickened up really well. Unfortunately I burned the milk so it tasted terrible. The new batch is on right now. Last night, Pete was making hot chocolate, one of these days I will try a batch of hot chocolate yogurt (once I get the basic stuff down). What did you do differently to make the second batch work?
I can’t wait to hear about it when you get the chickens! I’ve always wanted a chicken. Actually someday I think I’d like to have a whole farm, full of pets!
We need a “Yogurt Making Photo Blog”. I need to know more about the process, the results, and whether or not your kids actually agree to eat it. We spend a whole lot of money on yogurt.
