Looking for a kid friendly lamp
Our boys love sleeping in their own room and are usually real good about going to bed. Ben will play with toys for awhile before getting into bed while Ethan will get right into bed and do some drawing before going to sleep. The problem is that we’re always leaving the light on for them. I usually go up a little later to make sure they’re tucked in and turn out the light, but what I would like to get is a batter power lamp they could use that has a timed shutoff. Tap the button and it goes on for 15 minutes. If they still want to play or draw they could tap it again to get another 15 minutes. Has anyone seen something like this?
On a similar note I would also love to find kid friendly flashlights that have an auto shutoff. There’s plenty of sturdy flashlights, but if they leave them on the batteries are dead by the morning.

While it may not be exactly what you’re looking for, I have the same needs with my two 4 year old boys not wanting it to be dark immediately upon going to bed. I invested in a Hammecher & Schlemmer (forgive me for butchering that, I’m too lazy to look it up) lamp that is designed to mimic the sunrise as an alarm. It slowly brightens over 30 minutes to wake you up. It also works in reverse, slowly dimming over 30 minutes. I got mine on eBay since they’re quite costly. They aren’t battery powered, though. There are other lamps similar (can also be found on ebay) that allow you a longer dimming period than 30 minutes.
I don’t know of any flashlights that do this, but will be check back in hopes some of your readers do!
Thanks Sonya! I think this is the clock you were talking about:

More money than I wanted to spend, but I like the concept. The kids would probably have a blast with the nature sounds too.
I also found Moon in my Room which is a remote controlled, battery operated moon light that will go through the phases of the moon. It has an auto shutoff, but I can’t tell if it is timed or a light sensor. Some reviews say it still eats through batteries quickly. Another complaint is that the small remote is easy to misplace.
