I am nervous but excited about the impending arrival of 6 baby chicks next Wednesday (4 Ameraucanas and 2 Wyandottes). I’ve been reading up on chickens but a lot of whats written isn’t that helpful to the beginner. I worry they’ll die somehow and the kids will get upset. They will be shipped to us day old so I imagine they’ll be quite fragile. I also worry that starting a project like this while I’m pregnant and tired isn’t the best idea but its something I wanted for a while and I know the kids will love having them. Plus I think I’m a little crazy. I am pretty sure I know how and where I want John to build the coop but he hasn’t started yet. I figure he’ll work fast when the birds are getting big and we want them out of the house! This morning I am going to pick up some old windows for the coop from a guy remodeling his house so thats a start. I am sure I’ll be taking a million pictures of these chicks as they grow and the blog will be a bit chicken oriented at times so watch out.
