Splashing Memories

Huggies Little Swimmers and the Parent Bloggers Network are sponsoring this weeks blog blast on SUMMER WATER FUN! John’s parent’s both worked in schools/colleges so they had off summers to take his family to live on a lake EVERY year, so needless to say his summers were the kind any kid would dream of. I certainly wasn’t as fortunate but I have lots of fun vacation, town pool and summer camp memories.

Now that we are married with kids we try to make sure we’re really enjoying the summers together. Where we live there are a lot of lakes to take the kids swimming and last summer we got a pool. Since I’m pregnant this summer I think most of our swimming will be in our own backyard and the kids will be enjoying the slip&slide as well. Luckily we will also be able to take a couple trips up to visit John’s mom at the lake. We’ve taken the kids there every summer so far. Even though they don’t get to live there for months they love it and John gets to relive his childhood again when he shows the boys how to fish and spends the day in the water with them.

My favorite summer adventure is one we won’t be doing this summer, I will really miss going to Acadia National Park in Maine. I started going there with a great camp group in my early teens and John and I have been going together since college. We took Ethan camping there his first summer and then both the boys the summer Ben turned one. I can’t wait until we can go back, maybe next summer we’ll go for it and take 4 kids camping there! Its been too long since we’ve enjoyed the rocky coastline and lobsters!

Our trips to Maine are definitely something that I want to continue every few years and I’m sure the kids will have lots of amazing memories there. The upcoming summer spent mostly at home should be pretty great too though and I’m excited for it to start! Our pool is all ready to go, all we need is some hot weather and the splashing can begin!
