The Kimochi Bear, much more than a cute teddy!
I think that the Kimochi stuffed animals are just adorable and I love the concept behind them just as much as I love their cuteness factor! Kimochi means “emotions” in Japanese and each character comes with 3 kimochis that you put inside (you can also order 6 other emotions separately if you need more and we needed more!). We were very fortunate to be given the opportunity to review Bear (and the extra emotions). Our family will be adding a 4th baby this Fall and our oldest is 5 still so needless to say between my pregnancy hormones and 3 little kids, emotions are all over the place in this house (luckily John is very together and easy going at least)! All 3 kids love stuffed animals, they are a big part of their play time and of course they need to cover their beds in them nightly (especially Ethan)! Our new cuddly Bear is one of our cutest stuffed friends and while they are all sharing him, Ben has taken to him the most right now. Bear has a thing for Ben as well and will often try to eat Ben’s arm when his belly isn’t full of Kimichis! Ben just turned 4 and learning to manage all those emotions is a big task at that age, he really likes filling Bear with the 9 emotions and taking them back out. He will stuff them in and talk to himself about his “Bear with the big fat belly”. I have caught him twice looking at the emotion’s expressions when he was upset and other times he will bring them to me and talk about their feelings. I also love that the emotions have their names on the back, our collection includes: Happy, Sad, Mad, Loved, Hurt, Shy, Jealous, Scared, and Grateful. They are educational and are such great conversations starters. I totally agree that “Kimochis help kids communicate their feelings in a fun and comfortable way. Using the characters and their Kimochis, kids can get in touch with their emotions through puppetry and play while building self-esteem and confidence…” Now that I think of it I do have one tiny criticism: that Bear doesn’t come in other colors, it would be cute to have a different color Bear for each kid! We will have 4 kids soon and there are conveniently 4 different Kimochi characters so maybe that solves my problem and we need to get the red and blue twins and the square below so that everyone can have their own!

What a great idea! They sound for extremely useful for teaching kids about emotions!

Those are awesome. They’d be great tools to use with kids who have social interaction issues, or for autistic kids who need help visually identifying social and emotional cues.
What a great way to help teach emotions. thanks for sharing.
