Once Upon a Potty Book & CD (WIN the BOYS version)!

Potty training can seem like such a huge deal at times. I have gotten two boys potty trained and managed to live through it, hopefully the two girls will be even easier! I take any help I can get though so I gladly accepted the Parent Bloggers Network’s offer to review the girls version of Once Upon a Potty with 26 month old Jamie. She had been making some good potty progress this summer but she just doesn’t seem ready to leave diapers behind right now. I’m in no mood to push the issue since she is still little and with another little girl due this month we don’t need any extra craziness added into the mix right now! So we are taking the laid back approach and talking about the potty/toilet but I only put Jamie on it when she clearly wants to. I like that the Once Upon a Potty book is also relaxed and pressure free. Jamie really likes the book, we actually already had the paper version but this new thick board book is so much nicer! It is the perfect size for a 2 yr old to hold herself and sturdy enough to stand up to a girl who is rough on books! This great board book version has a nice CD on the inside cover so you can listen along to the story and song. Jamie will sit for me to read the book to her and she is always excited to point out what is going on. We change the words to fit what we call things (just like the author recommends) so for example we say pee-pee instead of wee-wee. Obviously this can’t be done when listening to the CD but its not an issue to me. Jamie also likes to “read” the book herself and I will hear her talking about the potty so I am happy that it gets her thinking about the subject. I am sure this book would benefit any child who is in the process of learning to use the potty.

Alona Frankel wrote the Once Upon a Potty book in 1975 but it has really stood the test of time perfectly. The illustrations and text are simple and still appealing to children today and I bet it will still be around when my grandchildren need it!

So on to the GIVEAWAY! I was sent both the girl and boy versions of the book and since my boys are 4 & 6, I am giving away the Once Upon a Potty BOY book & CD to one lucky reader! To enter:

The book would be for my nephew who will be3 the day after Christmas, but MOSTLY I just wanted to say that this book worked me. No, not with my children (we’ve probably got over a year left in diapers). For ME! That’s right. “Once Upon a Potty” was the book that my parents used for my siblings and I. I still can see the images in my mind. Totally cute book and like I said… IT WORKED FOR ME!

I have a 6 month old son, so I’m trying to win for him. For some reason, I’ve dreaded potty training even when I was pregnant…probably some childhood residue from my 4 brothers and their wetting the bed issues. I hope all goes better for my son, but I think this book would be a big help!

    Thanks!

Maybe you could get a new blog template or something. Spice things up a bit. A blog makeover if you will. Lord knows my blog needs it.

[...] And did you know there’s not just one book but two? One specifically for boys and one for girls. Plus, bloggers were encouraged to personalize the book even further. A blogger elaborates, “We change the words to fit what we call things (just like the author recommends) so for example we s….” [...]

The time will come (sooner than I want since he’s such a cute baby) when my son will start potty training. Can never be too prepared. Thanks!

Oh my gosh!! This was my miracle with my first son (I can still sing the Potty Song, “yes I’m going to the potty, potty…”) in that he saw the movie once and VOILA, he was instantly potty-trained. I would love to use it with my next 2 boys!!

I’d love to win for both of my sons! I actually have the girls version (that my mom read to me when I was pt’ing!) and my son loves reading it, but I think he needs a boys version LOL

I would love to win this for my 2 1/2 year old son as we are just starting to potty train. Then he can hand it down to his baby brother when he gets to that point. Thanks for the chance to win!

I have a 2 year old cousin who this would be perfect for. He is so smart but he is having a little trouble with the whole potty training thing. His mom is a first time mom and everything she has tried has not work. They both are a little lost and I know this would help.

I’m a soon to be first time grandmother. My son’s girlfriend is due in April. I’m sure she would appreciate a little help when potty training time comes.

I would luv to win this book for my 26 month old son Joshua. He has been sick most of his life and winning this book would help make his potty training alot easier.

i would love to win the book for my younger son as potty training was quite difficult with the older one and we didn’t have this book!

  18. Heather on October 23rd, 2008 3:24 pm

Since I only have a daughter right now, I would either save in case our next child is a boy or give it to a friend

My suggestion for your blog is maybe simplify a little. You just hae so much to offer I don’t know where to look.

  20. Strugi on October 25th, 2008 1:21 pm

I am convinced that our 21 month old Peter will never be interested in the potty-but we would love to try the book.

  21. Lisa on October 26th, 2008 10:37 pm

My own son is 9, and very much potty trained, but I would love to send something like this to my sister-in-law for my nephew. My nephew is 18 months, and if he’s anything like my son was, my sis-in-law will need all the help she can get come potty training time!

  22. Dawn on October 28th, 2008 3:39 pm

DS is in the midst of potty training…this would be great!

Whow! Could my neighbor use this for her 3 1/2 yr. old son. He doesn’t like the potty, but sure doesn’t have a problem ‘watering’ the (outside) plants!
