Faster shutter speed, adjust the white balance and f-stop. I don't know enough to know why these changes help, just doing trial and error. Even with good setting I end up deleting at least 75% of the pictures. I think part of our problem is that we have an old telephoto lens and its not very fast. I think it's all of the light both above and below the skaters. (My brother still plays and I can't get any good shots with my daughter.) They're adorable on the ice!
