A new vitamin line for moms & kids AND 2 of you can WIN a HUGE prize!

Have I ever mentioned that I love when people send me free things for the blog :) ? Not everything we get is super fun and makes the kids giddy but sometimes we get something we really NEED and this is the case with our latest gift and that made me pretty happy! We received the new line of Dr. Greene’s vitamins made by Twinlab and Dr. Alan Greene’s latest book Raising Baby Green. We didn’t just get samples, it was a HEAVY package that arrived! We got real full sized bottles of everything (there are 6 different products included) and TWO of our readers will be lucky enough to get the same thing plus signed copies of the book!

The vitamin line is ideal for woman to start taking when they are trying to conceive and to keep taking throughout breastfeeding. There is a Prenatal Complete Multivitamin & Mineral Supplement, Healthy Bone Formula and Omega-3 Fish Oil Softgels all for mom. Then there are Toddler Drops that you can add to your 1-3 yr old’s food or drink and then Chewable Vitamins for the 4+ crowd. The great thing about these vitamins are that they have no added junk, “Our products contain only natural colors (no FD&C colors) and flavors, and have no high fructose corn syrup or added preservatives, so you can help your children get the nutrients they need, without those extra additives”. I was never a fan of those gumball or gummy bear vitamins (and how many kids know the Flintstones today anyway!) so these sounded very appealing to me but I wasn’t sure if the kids would agree. The boys each got a bottle of chewables, one was orange and the other berry. They both said they liked them but prefer the berry but we agreed to alternate between the two flavors (and they are fine with that luckily so orange can’t be so bad!). The kids chewables are rectangular but they have animals on them so the boys like to see what they’ll get each day. Jamie hasn’t noticed anything when the toddler drops get added to her morning OJ so I suppose that is a thumbs up from her too. If you have a growing family like mine or are planning on one these would be great to check out!

I really like that everything is natural. My 2yo is super picky and so he gets a vitamin everyday and I hate giving him a vitamin that I know has “junk” in it to make it taste or look better. And I read on the Prenatel vitamin that the iron is non-constipating…that would be awesome!

Hello, This sounds like a wonderful line of supplements! On their site, I read that there is no high fructose, corn syrup or added preservatives in their vitamins. I also like that they use recyclable and eco friendly packaging with all of their products. Please enter me in your delightful drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

I like that there are no unnecessary additives or fillers. Sometimes the lactose added can bother me. Thanks,
    Annick

Not only do these vitamins look perfect for my children (no HFCS, FD&C colors or preservatives, yay!) but the packaging is recyclable and eco-friendly. That’s wonderful. I want my son to get the vitamins and minerals he needs, but without the unnecessary “junk” other vitamin companies add, and without making vitamins seem like candy. Vitamins are vitamins, they should not be gummy or gumballs or whatever else they’ve came up with.

I also liked the articles on that website. Nice!

I like that the toddler drops have DHA, and I’d never thought about adding them to food!

I learned that most women in the United States only get about 200 mcg of folic acid from their diets - when 600 mcg or even 1000 mcg would be better. I’m surprised at how low the consumption is even with fortified cereals etc. My husband and I would like to try to have another baby soon and I’d love the prenatal vitamins to ensure I get the nutrients I need to prepare myself before, during and after pregnancy.

I like the fact that the Toddler Drops “contain no added artificial colors (no FD&C colors), flavors, sweeteners, fructose, honey, alcohol or preservatives, so you can rest assured that your toddler is getting the nutrients he needs, without having to worry about those extra additives.”

I am trying to look for products that don’t cram in so many unhealthy ingredients for my new baby. These vitamins and the book would be so helpful!

I really like this line, I think the importance of preconception nutrition on their site is really helpful. I didn’t really think about nutrition before pregnancy but I learned how important that is too going into pregnancy thru reading the article on Dr. Greene’s site.

  17. Janet F on November 8th, 2008 11:45 am

For most kids, about 80% of adult height is gained before 6th grade is over, but the need for quality nutrition doesn’t stop there. About 20% of adult height and 50% of adult weight are gained during adolescence

    Thank you!

I learned more details about fish and pregnancy. I don’t usually like fish, but when I’m pregnant I sometimes crave it.

  19. reeva on November 11th, 2008 9:47 pm

yea the hfcs is gone! its bad for you anyway so i’m glad its not in these products!

I came to the site today to see what I could learn about vitamin D and kids. My daughter has been on 4 rounds of prescription vitamin D and takes a over the counter vitamin D fortified every day. And, her count was still 4 this last blood draw. The doctor can’t figure out what is wrong with her. Since, she plays sports and is outside a lot. And, loves milk, fish, and chesses. I wanted to find out what I am missing and maybe better questions to ask the doctor. Your site has helped me do that. I am not finished yet though. But, wanted to say thank you. Perhaps the best thing I have learned tonight is that you have your own vitamin d line. :0) I really like that there is no added junk to the vitamins.

I love that the toddler version comes in drops. Getting my kids to swallow pills in next to impossible. I also like the packaging, and would have tried it based solely on that.
