Hot Wheels Trick Tracks Triple Stunt Starter Set and the Power Loop Stunt Zone

4

When I was a kid I loved my collection of Hot Wheels cars and trucks.  My friends and I would spend hours playing with them in the dirt or setting up long runs of track to race the cars down the stairs, through the kitchen, and down into our family room with a big jump at the end.

A few weeks ago the Parent Bloggers Network sent us some Hot Wheels toys to review with the kids and with the birth of Jillian coming we thought it would be perfect timing! While Heather was in the hospital, the boys and I setup the Trick Tracks Triple Stunt Starter Set and the Power Loop Stunt Zone.

Setting up these tracks was a little intimidating at first, but when I took the time to look at the directions I found it quite easy and the boys helped me get all the track and loops setup.  I still ddn’t completely understand what made these sets different from any other Hot Wheels track set until we started hooking the stunts together and prepping them for launch.

Each stunt is locked in place with a car ready to go.  You can connect another piece of track at the start end and either connect to another stunt from the end of the track or attach a jump.  The stunts can go in any order and you begin them with a ramp attached to a table with the usual Hot Wheels clamp.  Here’s what sets these apart.  Each stunt has a cone looking device that acts as the trigger.  When the car bumps into the cone it releases the next car and so on down the line.  The boys LOVED setting up each stunt, getting them all ready, and then I would begin the countdown.

The set is like a Rube Goldberg device for Hot Wheels cars.  With 4 different stunts setup things wouldn’t always work right, but that was part of the fun.  The boys would look over the stunt that failed and try adjusting the track or swapping out cars.

In the end we found this to be our favorite of all the Hot Wheels tracks we’ve ever played with.  We love that the stunts and be mixed and matched in any order and it is simple to add more stunts or additional track and fill the whole room.  The problem with most Hot Wheels tracks is keeping the momentum going so the car keeps racing.  Each stunt will propel the next car and allow you to really spread out and setup a fun jump at the end.

Our family loved this Hot Wheels set as well. I found that the kids were completely engaged setting up the track and configuring it “just so”–the setting up part was almost as fun as the actual racing. So, when you wrote “With 4 different stunts setup things wouldn’t always work right, but that was part of the fun. The boys would look over the stunt that failed and try adjusting the track or swapping out cars.”…it completely rang a bell!

Looks cool. Do you know if it’s compatable with the “Classic” tracks?
