I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for losing weight and getting healthier. So that means I am thinking about it BUT not actually doing it yet! I know, I NEED to start ASAP! I hadn’t really thought about incorporating canned soups into a diet but they are quick and portion controlled and now that our stove/oven just broke this weekend this prize package couldn’t have come at a better time! I have always been a fan of Progresso (clam chowder, lentil and minestrone are my favorites!) Apparently my kids had never been to Burger King before so I thought it would be fun to participate in this review and give it a try! We combined a BK drive through experience with a drive around to see Christmas lights (and a surprise Christmas Carousel ride) about a week ago. It was a great night, something different and fun since our kids all love burgers and fries! John and I couldn’t remember the last time we’d tried BK but we both thought our burgers tasted great. The boxes and crowns were a big hit too and I think the new style crown is much cuter than the ones I remember. I suppose the only issue was that Ethan is not a fan of sesame seed buns but that just reminded me and John of “2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun”. ho ho ho Green Giant! (hurry contest ends 12/29/11)

Another just before the deadline contest post! This computer is so wonky, this is now my second attempt writing this today because firefox froze up and I needed to force quit.

Anyway on to the Green Giant! I think the only vegetable that I don’t like is beets but the rest of my family is much pickier! Luckily for me a few of them eat broccoli because I love it in pretty much anything. I can’t think of many easy things I like better than macaroni and cheese with broccoli. Now its even easier (for nights that are not so easy) with Green Giants Valley Fresh Steamers. I try to always have plain broccoli, corn, peas and spinach in the freezer because they are the basics to me but some ready made side dishes like this are nice for dinner emergencies! Clearly I am one of those moms that have dinner emergencies fairly often. I think something like this would be great to have on hand for single people and the elderly as well, I think most people feel better when they have some back-ups waiting in the freezer!

Hurry and get some Cheerios Cheer postcards while you can!

Well this time I do have a Cheerios giveaway to include with this review! However I am just making the deadline so I think I need to get strict with myself and write reviews the week we receive packages! Anyway of course my kids love their Cheerios and were excited to get a package with fun Cheerio stuff. Our package contained a box of Cheerios, an adorable ceramic Cheerio bowl with a spoon and a cereal dispenser that my kids think is so cool (like the hotel we stayed at had). I think the Cheerios Cheer campaign is a cute, easy way for kids to spread some cheer to the troops. Here is some info about it:

When our troops are called to serve, their families must rise to meet the challenges of service as well. To thank them, Cheerios and the USO have partnered in a postcard campaign that spreads Cheer directly to these honorable military families and supports USO programs. Here’s how it works:

During the months of October and November, 2011, specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal will feature Cheer postcards on the front of the box. Consumers can simply cut out the postcard from the Cheerios logo, write a message of thanks on the back, add a stamp and mail the pre-addressed card to the USO. The USO will deliver the Cheer card to military families across the country.

For each postcard received through November 2012, Cheerios will make a $1 donation to the USO to help fund programs that support military families.

To kick off the campaign, Cheerios has already donated $150,000 to the USO and will donate up to an additional $100,000 based upon the number of postcards received from specially marked boxes now through November 30^th, 2012.

Sending a “Cheer” postcard is a simple way to say thanks and lift the spirits of our country’s military families. So, take a moment out of your day to spread some Cheer and send a message of thanks!

That is why its really important that we have National Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October. I was really glad to get the information from General Mills about this post for myself and to share with you. I was especially moved reading through the Betty Crocker Living with Cancer Cookbook Pink Together Edition. If I had cancer it would be helpful and comforting for me to read. I think it could be equally or even more important for people who have a friend or family member with breast cancer to read though so that they can get more insight into what their loved one is going through and what type of meals it would be helpful to prepare.

Well I am all about the cupcakes when it comes to birthdays (so much easier to pass out cupcakes at parties than the hassle of cutting cake and the wondering if there will be enough for everyone) plus I like to decorate them in fun ways to go with the party theme. BUT because frosting 24 cupcakes can be a pain I never make cupcakes when its not someones birthday (or maybe a holiday party)…until now! I think Fun da-middles are a FUN way to make a smaller amount of cupcakes (each box makes 12, just the perfect amount for our family of 6!) for any time and I can skip the waiting to cool and frost stage! The filling is in the middle so its a novel concept that will appeal to the kids AND make it easy to throw into a lunch bag without worrying about the frosting getting all over! Well “my family loves it” fits this review and I am sure we’ll be enjoying these from time to time when I feel like baking something easy and extra yummy!

YAY for Hearts For Hearts Girls! Enter to win one!

I am not a fan of trashy looking dolls and I do not it like when a little girl has only blue eyed blond dolls to play with! I was really excited to learn about the 6 different Heart for Heart Girl dolls and how they teach kids about diversity and charity. My girls were sent Consuelo to review and an extra set of clothes and accessories (they got Dell’s clogging set that even came with pie, jam and a thermos). The package arrived on Jamie’s second day of kindergarten and I surprised her with it as soon as she got home. Both my girls spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Mia (they renamed Consuelo) and changing her outfits and shoes. The doll is very cute and seems very well made (I like how easily her limbs move and how detailed the clothes and jewelry are). Plus all the dolls in the line have great hair! I was a little nervous that with my girls being young that the small accessories would get lost easily but after a week of play even the earrings are still accounted for! I would love to see these dolls do well and hope that they create even more dolls for the line.
