Boys stuff

So a couple weeks ago Ethan said he wanted to be a stay at home dad, not exactly in those words but he said something like “the woman will work”. We had a little conversation where I said he’d have to learn to change diapers and he said he’d make Lego diapers because he “could just hose them off and they’d be indestructible”. Now today he was talking to me about scientists and I asked him if he’d like to be a scientist when he is an adult. He said “no I told you I’m going to do nothing” and when I asked him why he said “I’m going to stay home like you do and no nothing”. Thanks Ethan!

John has been chopping wood for our stove from a bunch of my mom’s trees and the boys have been finding guns and walking sticks while he chops. John took these pictures of Ethan with his gun and Ben playing his “underwear tribe” game.

The boys new loft bed (better DIY post on this coming soon)! John got this built so much faster than I thought...

The Confusing Plan

The folks at SmugMug.com were kind enough to give me a second 14 day trial after I told them my iMac died right after I started my first trial. The reason I’m looking at SmugMug is because I want to share some of our video and I’m not happy with Youtube. SmugMug has a better terms of service, better privacy options, and they aren’t flooded with trolls. I also want to get in the habit of uploading more of our photos for backup and to order prints.

Here’s my first test: A short clip of Ben telling me his plan of how to score a goal on Ethan during a soccer game in my mom’s driveway.

Here’s the transcript:

“We will…You do another confuse that’s not the same confuse and when you’re confusing him, I’ll shoot…you’re confusing him away from the net, I will score in his goal. Ok?”

I’m not sure which I love more…Ben making the hand binoculars inorder to tell me his secret plan, or seeing just how concerned Ethan is about our scheme.

My How Things Have Changed

We gave Ethan our old digital camera and he has been using it on and off to take pictures. Last night while I was playing with the new iPhoto he came over and asked me “is there a way you could take my pictures and put them on paper?” It is amazing how fast we’ve become digital. Just another reminder that I should be ordering prints more often and I REALLY need to beef up our backup system.

I love the words that kids create for things. I’ve been trying to keep track of all the things our boys have said, but I know I’ve forgotten some and I want to make sure I don’t forget anymore.

Kneebow pads – shin guards
Canyon Balls – cannon balls
Turbets – turrets (from playing Spore civilization stage)

That’s all I can remember right now, but I’ll post more as they come to me or as the kids invent them.

Hungry Dinosaur

Ethan was playing with a dinosaur and making it eat things just now. As he started to pretend to eat Ben’s back, Ben yelled “Hey I’m not vegetation!”. Just another thing I never thought I’d hear one of my kids say!
