Weight Watchers Sweet Baked Goods

Well I think I better take it as “a sign” that I keep getting reviews to write that have to do with weight lose! I am going to make better choices and stop putting off weight lose! Baked goods are definitely my biggest weakness, I LOVE to bake and I love to get the huge french vanilla muffin when I stop for coffee with my friend every week. When I bake at home its so easy to “test one” and then “have one with my coffee” and then “have just another” and “oops did I just eat another”! With a product like Weight Watchers Sweet Baked Goods I can keep them in the cabinet for an emergency and then not feel like I’ve fallen off the wagon after! They are individually wrapped and that definitely helps me not to keep having “another”. That also means I can put a muffin in my purse for when I go out for coffee. I was given a box of the new Double Chocolate Muffins and a box of new Blueberry Muffins to test out and 2 free coupons for when I finished those. There are a lot of other choices in the line to: Chocolate Crème Cake, Lemon Crème Cake, Carrot Crème Cake, Golden Sponge Cake with Creamy Filling, Brownie, Chocolate Chip Soft Cookie and Oatmeal Raisin Soft Cookie. I liked both of the flavors that I tried but the blueberry was my favorite. It really went well with my coffee and thats how I judge sweets lately! I think the oatmeal raisin cookies will be what I try next!

Minted Classroom Valentines!

We loved our Minted holiday cards and I was so excited that we got the chance to do another Minted review! Minted is an online store featuring a unique and modern assortment of personalized photo cards, wedding invitations, and other personalized stationery and gifts, all designed by indie designers. They recently launched a 2012 Valentine’s Day Card and Gift Collection. Their collection includes classroom Valentine’s Day cards – the cards are perfect for your kids to hand out at school! Now Jamie is getting to hand out Minted Valentine’s Day cards with her picture to all her friends and teachers! I had a lot of fun personalizing some of the designs (I always go for the photo options) and I really loved the Little Birdie card that I paired with a great picture of her in a brown embroidered dress (it went so perfectly with the card design) BUT I really knew I had to design a purple card for my purple girl! I ended up saving about 6 different cards in the “my saved designs” on the Minted site and then I let Jamie choose her favorite, she picked the Queen of Hearts card in the purple color option (many cards have other color options and this one comes in pink or purple). She also asked to use a picture of herself in a purple jacket to match! I really like that she is giving out a Valentine that she chose, personalized with her picture and most importantly it has her name already on it. Writing around 30 Valentines is a lot for a kindergartener so its great that she just needs to write her friends names and can skip doing her own (my kids have had a few crying episodes trying to write last minute Valentines in a hurry). When you have boys choosing Valentines can be a tricky thing but Minted has quite a few fun cards geared towards boys that aren’t mushy (I am partial to all the robot ones!). Hmm I can’t figure out how to copy and paste the ones I designed but here are some of my favorites from the Minted site (including the one Jamie picked!):

Well this time I do have a Cheerios giveaway to include with this review! However I am just making the deadline so I think I need to get strict with myself and write reviews the week we receive packages! Anyway of course my kids love their Cheerios and were excited to get a package with fun Cheerio stuff. Our package contained a box of Cheerios, an adorable ceramic Cheerio bowl with a spoon and a cereal dispenser that my kids think is so cool (like the hotel we stayed at had). I think the Cheerios Cheer campaign is a cute, easy way for kids to spread some cheer to the troops. Here is some info about it:

When our troops are called to serve, their families must rise to meet the challenges of service as well. To thank them, Cheerios and the USO have partnered in a postcard campaign that spreads Cheer directly to these honorable military families and supports USO programs. Here’s how it works:

During the months of October and November, 2011, specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal will feature Cheer postcards on the front of the box. Consumers can simply cut out the postcard from the Cheerios logo, write a message of thanks on the back, add a stamp and mail the pre-addressed card to the USO. The USO will deliver the Cheer card to military families across the country.

For each postcard received through November 2012, Cheerios will make a $1 donation to the USO to help fund programs that support military families.

To kick off the campaign, Cheerios has already donated $150,000 to the USO and will donate up to an additional $100,000 based upon the number of postcards received from specially marked boxes now through November 30^th, 2012.

Unfortunately I am BAD! Although this is extra bad for me because I was too late with this review and missed the deadline for the giveaway that I was supposed to do. I had to still write about how the package that made my kids totally happy! Last year was the first time (since we had kids) that I didn’t send out photo cards and it made me feel like a bah humbug! This year I have ordered my cards early and am all excited about them. Its easy to stress about getting the perfect “Christmas card picture” but having four kids has forced me to lighten up and sort of give up on that. Instead I opt for holiday cards with spots for four photos and just pick my favorite close up of each kid. Minted offered to send me holiday cards to review this year and they had tons of options! I found quite a few that I loved with four photos but there are lots of options from one big photo to a collage of many. I really had fun making my card and I was very happy that I could really customize their design. I looked through all of the Christmas cards and new years cards (many of which are great for a general holiday card) and chose the “Photo Booth New Years” card that I pictured first below but mine looks very different. I changed the background color to a pale green, changed the color of the text on some of the words so that I had 3 different colors, I changed the font size on our last name so that it didn’t overlap the bottom picture too much and I shifted the words “happiest of Holidays to you” so that the H didn’t block the very close up pictures I selected in the top two photo spots. That may sound like a lot but the editing is super user friendly and I was able to make my nit-picky changes quickly and made the card exactly how I wanted it to be! I chose one sided flat cards but there are two sided options and folded cards that you can customize with more photos and text (for those of you who love to do holiday newsletters). Halloween Hexbug Nano Party (now they glow in the dark)!

We are fortunate enough to get the chance to hold our second Hexbug Nano party! This time its to help introduce the new glow in the dark line of Hexbugs and the special Halloween edition Nanos that come in little coffins! My kids are super excited that we will be having some of their friends over this weekend for some big Hexbug Halloween fun! We will set up our regular Hexbug sets with the new glow in the dark ones and I imagine it will completely take over our family room. My kids are builders so they love when I get out their Hexbug tracks (habitats) and they get to put them together any way they want. The more pieces you have the crazier their set-ups become so I can’t wait to watch them putting all of their various habitat sets together. Of course the Hexbugs themselves are lots of fun even without their habitats but combined they are a hit with all four of our kids. The batteries have lasted us a long time because my kids are good about turning them off when they are done AND since they buzz and move when they are on its pretty easy to make sure they all get turned off after play. We were also sent some spare batteries to share with party-goers to make sure their Hexbug fun lasts a loooong time.

Well I am all about the cupcakes when it comes to birthdays (so much easier to pass out cupcakes at parties than the hassle of cutting cake and the wondering if there will be enough for everyone) plus I like to decorate them in fun ways to go with the party theme. BUT because frosting 24 cupcakes can be a pain I never make cupcakes when its not someones birthday (or maybe a holiday party)…until now! I think Fun da-middles are a FUN way to make a smaller amount of cupcakes (each box makes 12, just the perfect amount for our family of 6!) for any time and I can skip the waiting to cool and frost stage! The filling is in the middle so its a novel concept that will appeal to the kids AND make it easy to throw into a lunch bag without worrying about the frosting getting all over! Well “my family loves it” fits this review and I am sure we’ll be enjoying these from time to time when I feel like baking something easy and extra yummy!

YAY for Hearts For Hearts Girls! Enter to win one!

I am not a fan of trashy looking dolls and I do not it like when a little girl has only blue eyed blond dolls to play with! I was really excited to learn about the 6 different Heart for Heart Girl dolls and how they teach kids about diversity and charity. My girls were sent Consuelo to review and an extra set of clothes and accessories (they got Dell’s clogging set that even came with pie, jam and a thermos). The package arrived on Jamie’s second day of kindergarten and I surprised her with it as soon as she got home. Both my girls spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Mia (they renamed Consuelo) and changing her outfits and shoes. The doll is very cute and seems very well made (I like how easily her limbs move and how detailed the clothes and jewelry are). Plus all the dolls in the line have great hair! I was a little nervous that with my girls being young that the small accessories would get lost easily but after a week of play even the earrings are still accounted for! I would love to see these dolls do well and hope that they create even more dolls for the line.
