You will subtract 12 inches from the size of the bed. I hope this helps. I am still happy with my bed. I have to thank you for showing us how to built a platform bed. I have a CA King Size Bed, yesterday I went to Lowes and bought the supplies : De 2×4×96. 10 pieces. $3.14 each. (Only needed 9 pieces) (not cut in lowes) 2×10×8. 6 pieces. $7.59 each. (Need a saw they would not cut them in lowes) 3/4×4×97 MDF 2 pieces. $16.48 each (lowes cut them for me 85×74 1/2) 2 1/2 deck screws. 1 box. $8.47.
