Great simple project. Built a king platform bed over the weekend using these plans. Made a few alterations. I knew I wanted a clean painted finish so I opted for 3/4″ birch plywood instead of 2X lumber. I have a table saw so I was able to rip the plywood down. I also wanted to keep the weight down so the 3/4 ply was stable but light. I wanted a lower look so I reduced the base to 6″ h instead of 10″. Also to reduce weight I used 1/2″ mdf instead of 3/4″ . Stuff weighs a ton anyway.
Because of the painted finish I didn’t want screw heads showing so instead of screwing from outside in I grabbed my KREG pocket hole jig and all screw heads are inside the bed frame. I was able to build and paint in the garage and carry upstairs in 4 pieces. Base,platform frame, 2 mdf platform tops. All carried by myself . Also able to slide it around with a little effort but still very stable and strong. I designed it with 12″ of overhang all the way around so it really looks like it is floating. Total about $140 in materials

My favorites are the Reduced Sodium options, especially the Garden Vegetable and Chicken Noodle.

An easy way to fix the corner problem is to just but some 1/4 to 3/4 rounded corner trim, it fits right over the corner, just use trim nails to keep it on

I’ve been trying to convince my parents all winter to make a rink. So finally they said yes but the weather says no. I wish it would get cold already…..Waiting for it to freeze is the hard part.
